Exploring the Masai Culture

This week we delved further into the Masai culture - we danced, sang, read, 'googled', explored and showed what great 'inquirers' we were.

Week 3

We have had the opportunity to work closely with Ms. Lynn (our counselor) this week!
Kelso has now joined our classroom and has been sent home too!

We have been working hard at data collection this week discovering and collecting information about different people in our classroom as we delve further into our unit on 'Who We Are'.

Seating

We have introduced a variety of seating arrangements within the classroom to meet the needs of the students. These are working well so far and students are choosing to use these areas of work depending on what they feel will help them learn the best.

Week 2

We have begun our unit of inquiry: 'Who We are' and spent time 'unpacking' the central idea. To link with this we are exploring our identities: looking at where we come from, where we've lived, the places we have visited.

We now also have our focus author: Tomie DePaola. Ask the students to tell you about his books!

We also had our first reading session with out buddy class: 4AM. This was an exciting time for us as they came to read with us and explore the books in our classroom!

School - Read in

It was a calm and peaceful start to the day today with the whole-school read-in which was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
Students were reading either in buddies, in groups or by themselves.
